El rancho de los Yturriondobeitia sufre daños por un incendio en The Basque Station de….¡Oregón!

En primer lugar decir que lamentamos que el incendio que han sufrido las praderas del Condado de Malheur, y los daños que este ha producido ya que han ardido mas de 1.424 km² ( 550.000 millas²), lo que equivaldría casi a  la superficie total de Gipuzkoa (1.980 km²) . Pero tenemos que reconocer que esta información nos ha servido para conocer y profundizar más sobre la importancia de la presencia vasca en el oeste de los USA.

Esta zona, el Condado de Malheur,  está situada en la frontera de Oregón con Montana e Idaho y situado, por lo tanto, en la zona de influencia vasca. Long Draw fire devastates land, cattle and way of life for Eastern Oregon ranchers

Basque, Oregon–July 24, 2012– The burn area of the Long Draw fire is massive and the scene is desolate and sometimes gruesome. More than 550,000 square miles were burned in the fire, killing cattle, horses, rabbits, coyote and other animals.
