Of all the Spanish regions, the one I feel has the most unexplored potential is Navarra. All through its history, Navarra (now with just 18,000 hectares) has lost out in popularity to neighbouring Rioja, which is more than twice its size. Like Rioja, Navarra did benefit in the 19th century when French winemakers crossed the Pyrenees after their vineyards were affected by the phylloxera louse. (sigue)
