Grace Bertagna is a sophomore at UMass Amherst and is studying Spanish and sociology.  She’s just published an article for Her Campus, the most influential and important journal for women university students in the US, in which she gives five reasons for visiting the Basque Country.

She spent six weeks studying in San Sebastian and, highlighting its cuisine, natural beauty, language, communications, and history, she invites her readers to get to know this part of Europe.  According to her, it’s highly underappreciated by visitors to Europe.

There is so much we enjoy about her article, such as how she reports that we Basques live on both sides of the Pyrenees; that there are four provinces to the south and three to the north; that our history and culture is different to those of Spain or France; and that in our country, we don’t have tapas, we have pintxos.

These are the kinds of things that just make our day.  Don’t miss it!

Here are just a few reasons why you should spend some quality time in this gorgeous city and incorporate this impressive cultural region into your next European vacation.
