aboutbasquecountry.eus is, according to Feedspot, one of the top 20 blogs and websites about Basques.  This was the surprise we found this morning on Twitter:

But here’s something even more interesting: we were ranked sixth, but the top five are all “official” government-run or government-financed sites, meaning we’re the top-ranked privately-run blog!

We’re absolutely honored and thrilled to be recognized in this way, especially thanks to the work of our tireless English-language editor, John Bopp.  We can never thank him enough for his effort and commitment, as well as the continuous “good vibes,” sympathy, and optimism he brings to the team.

We’d also like to congratulate all the blogs and website that are on the list, especially the work of those pages which, like our, are the result of a personal commitment to Basque society, whether their creators live in the Basque Country or outside it, because we know firsthand just how hard and complicated it is to put out a website like this based largely or solely on volunteer efforts.

And last but not least, we wish to thank everyone who has supported us, read the entries, and followed us, for making this all possible.  We’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that not only can they follow us on Feedspot (in English), there’s also a mailing list (also available in Spanish) you can sign up for, which guarantees you’ll never miss an entry published here on aboutbasquecounytry.eus.

To give you an idea of what Feedspot is, two pieces of information:

    • 250,000 blogs, podcasts, and publications on their lists.
    • Over 120 million visitors to the Feedspot lists.

This last datum gains even more relevance when you take into account that Feedspot is a paid service!

This recognition is in addition to the one Deia gave us when we were named the Best Basque Blogger of 2017 (automatic translation), after having been finalists in 2014.

We’ll leave you with the Feedspot blog entry about the list, which also explains the criteria used to draw it up.
