We’ve spoken a lot about how much Basque cider is loved in the US. For us, it was quite a pleasant surprise way back in 2010 to find an article in the New York Times by Eric Assimov (an old friend to the blog, and yes, a relative of scientist, author, and Three Laws of Robotics inventor Isaac Asimov) recomended Basque cider for that year’s Thanksgiving celebrations.
And today the Big Apple (Sagar Handia in Basque) is back in the news because the Basque company Kaizen (which, as they explain, is made up of 18 young entrepreneurs who are driven to change the world) is going to celebrate a festival of Basque culture and Basque cider at the Basque Center in New York.
The zenith of the Basque cider house season is the “excuse” to bring Basque cuisine, music, and of course cider to the heart of Brookly, with the presence, for example, of Sidras Bereziartua.
And this is just part of the plan, because many other cultural and entertainment activities can also be enjoyed.
It’s a day to celebrate, with cider as the excuse, and to bring Basque culture closer to New York. It will join a long list of other such events, including Txikifest.
