The tourism numbers are proving that, year after year, the Land of the Basques is becoming ever more popular.  And this is due in no small part to the fact that the Basque Country has a lot to offer, from the standard sun and sand to other attractions: there’s something for everyone.

For those in the Basque Country, we’re in that pre-summer holiday time, when the possibilities, or not, of spending a few days of relax start popping up in conversation at work, at home, with friends…

And a lot of those conversations are going to repeat the same two messages: some are going abroad to discover another corner of the world, while others can’t go too far because things at home are complicated.  We always say that none of us should forget to spend a few days getting to know our own little corner of the world, and enjoy it.

To those globetrotters who are used to traveling to far-flung destinations, we’d like to remind you that while there’s a lot of beauty and interest out there, there’s a lot of beauty and interesting things to be discovered right here at home, big and small.  We all too often say that we’ll visit them one day, since they’re close by, but that one day never comes.  This summer could finally be that day.

And for those who, for whatever reason, won’t be planning getaways to exotic locales, we’ll say exactly the same, but with a different approach.  You don’t have to go too far, or spend too much money, to get to know incredible places that will always live on in your memory.  Our land offers tons of opportunities to enjoy landscapes, experiences, and one-of-a-kind moments, all at our fingertips.

And to those of you who don’t have the amazing fortune to already live in the Land of the Basques, we can only say that this is something you just can’t miss out on.  You have a whole world here, from mountain peaks to deserts, without forgetting our marvelous coast.  You can travel in time to prehistory and Europe’s first inhabitants, to the latest and greatest of the 21st century.  The Land of the Basques is a place where you can enjoy some of the best city festivals in the world, and sample some of the most unbelievably good cuisine the world has to offer.  Like we said, you just can’t miss it.

So, for everyone, from inside or outside the Basque Country, we’ll leave you with our Country’s official tourism websites.  We might be divided administratively, but this land can only be understood as one unique cultural, historical, social, gastronomical, and geographic reality: that of the Basques.
