The German TV station 3sat will keep this episode of its travel show “…, da will ich hin!“(I want to go there), broadcast by state broadcaster ARD and presented by journalist Simin Sadeghi available for a year.
It was originally done in 2018 and we like it for several reasons.
The first is one we found important: it uses Basque music to set the mood for a show about Bilbao. This wouldn’t have been the first time we’d have seen a documentary on Basque topics set to Andalusian music, which clashes more than anything.
We also liked the pace and vision it gives of the city. It was interesting to see it from a “different” point of view. Again, however, we must admit we missed seeing coverage of the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and the Basque Museum.
By the way, this is the second time we’re quoting chef Álvaro Garrido, from the Mina restaurant, this month. This time, it’s because of his participation in this documentary; earlier, we’d mentioned him for his appearance in the New York Times.
So, another take on Bilbao that we really liked. What’s more, regardless of our readers’ level of German, we recommend watching it because they might discover something about our town they didn’t know before.

Bilbao, da will ich hin!
