Our regular readers know our great desire to share what exactly the Basque and Navarrese Economic Agrements are. They are the pillars upon which our self-government is based, and the tool that best connects the Basques south of the Pyrenees of today with their history.
We feel there is a great lack of knowledge about what it is, why it exists, and how important it is. Not to mention, there is a clear desire from some who would like to finish off Basque self-government to misinform and manipulate public opinion, making people believe that it is a privilege and a driver of inequality and imbalance.
That campaign, which started alongside the agreements themselves at the end of the 19th century, and which is nothing but a continuation of the “unionist” posture against Basque chartered freedoms, is aided in large measure by the lack of knowledge among even Basques to explain the existence of these elements of sovereignty. It is however also true that this lack of knowledge has not prevented Basque society from being aware of its importance over the years.
And all this is why these information campaigns about the Basque and Navarrese Agreements are so necessary, both for Basques at home and for those outside our country.
That second group is the target audience for the webinar being organized by Be Basque Talent Network in which the Managing Director at Bizkaia Talent will explain what the Basque (and by extension Navarrese) Economic Agreement is and how it affects foreigners who move to our country.
