The team in charge of organizing the 2021 Jaialdi, which had been rescheduled from the original 2020 Jaialdia, has just announced that it’s now moving to 2022. The new dates are July 26—31, 2022. Of course, the reason for this change is the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jaialdi is one of the most important events for the Basque Diaspora, and is held every five years in Boise, Idaho. We’ve spoken about it on several occasions, both for the reach it always gets in American media and for its importance and influence, which attracts Basques from all over the world.
We’re sure this new delay, being pushed back one more year, is necessary given the current international situation, and that it will in no way dampen the enthusiasm of those thousands of Basques who come to this must-do event from every corner of the globe.
We’ve always wanted to attend this amazing festival of the Basques in the US. And we’ll do everything we can to be there in 2022.
All our support and encouragement to the organizers, who, by making this complicated decision, have shown common sense, responsibility, and a will do to the utmost to guarantee success for this amazing event.
We’ll see you at Jaialdi 2022!
We’ll leave you with the press release they shared on their Facebook page, explaining this decision and the measures they’ve taken to minimize any possible negative consequences (in English and Basque).
