We’ve have talked on several occasions about Sorginen kondaira, the games created by Basque startup Binary Soul.  They’re games aimed at children and ids, to help them learn about Basque mythology, the Basque language, and Basque culture, by solving fun challenges in an incredible 3-D environment.

First, we got to enjoy the adventures of this small Basque witch in a game by the same name, Sorginen kondaira, and it was launched on DVD to be played on the PC.

Then, our hero jumped to mobile devices, with the adventure Sorginen Erronkak, where we could go deeper, with our same witch guide, into the universe of Basque mythology through a series of skill-based mini-games.  It was free to download!

Now, since yesterday, we have a new adventure ready to play: Sorgina: A Tale of Witches.  It’s a single-player adventure game for all ages, full of action, platforms, and puzzle solving.  In this adventure, our young witch apprentice embarks on a crusade against darkness, where she’ll have to learn and combine several magical skills to solve the puzzles and surmount the obstacles she’ll find on her way, all in order to defeat the Lord of Darkness.

Again, as if it could be any other way, the story is set in different legends of Basque mythology.  In them, our hero will travel through some amazing places inspired by real, emblematic places where you can find different characters from Basque populore folklore.

Perhaps one of the most important things this new edition offers is that it’s available on Steam for the PC in an international version available in Spanish, Basque, and English with improvements.  That means that the whole story can be played from any corner of the world, thanks to this international digital distribution channel.

The main features of the game are:

  • Adventures, platforms, and puzzles for all ages
  • Discover new mythology and folklore
  • Travel to some beautiful locales inspired by real locations in the Basque Country
  • Learn and combine different spells to solve progressively harder puzzles
  • A LowPoly artistic style with vibrant colors and a cartoon aesthetic
  • More than 30 achievements for those looking for even the hardest challenge
  • Steam Trading Cards
  • Especially aimed at a younger audience, which will find more challenge in the puzzles, and which will want to learn about a region and mythology that perhaps they’d never heard of before

Get it with the special offers

About Basque Country readers can enjoy, during the month of June, a special offer that will allow them to enjoy both versions of the game, Sorginen kondaira and Sorgina: A Tale of Witches:

For every purchase of the game on DVD, you’ll receive a key to download the Steam version of the game.

For €14.50, you’ll get both editions of the game, a savings off the €24.49 they cost separately.

It’s important to note that this offer, for distribution reasons, is only available to orders made from continental Spain.

Those interested in Sorgina: A Tale of Witches can download it from any corner of the world during the first week with a discount for downloading off Steam.  So, these few days, instead of the €9.99 official price, it will only be €8.47.
