In April, 21 young Germans and two professors from Albstadt spent a few days in Eibar.  It’s the fifth year they’ve done this cultural exchange with this southern German city between Stuttgart and the Swiss border with the Eibar high school.

Two clues tell us that these exchanges have been highly satisfactory for both parties.  One, this is the fifth year they’re doing it, and two, there’s an article in the German daily Schwarzwaelder Bote talking about these young Germans’ adventures in Basque lands.  Then, of course, there’s also the faces of the participants, which can be seen in the photos the schools has posted on its website.

During the week the students spent here, these young people have gotten to know our country, our culture, and our history a bit better.  In addition to seeing everything Eibar has to offer, they’ve also gotten to visit such special places as Guernica, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Vitoria Cathedral, the flysch in Zumaia, or San Sebastian.

It was an amazing experience for all the students, which allowed them to open their minds to new ways of thought and to get to know new people.

Everything turned out well, as the visit also included tickets, the treat of the City government, to see an SD Eibar match played at home against Deportivo La Coruña, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
