A new global alliance chaired by Prince Albert II of Monaco and convened by The Climate Group has set a target of getting 1 million more electrical vehicles on the road in the next five years than automakers had planned to bring to market. (+)

Global alliance aims for one million electric vehicles
The new global alliance known as EV20 wants to put one million additional electric vehicles on to the road by 2015.
The alliance consists of businesses and government leaders including the international NGO, The Climate Group, TNT, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Smith Electric Vehicles, Johnson Controls, Better Place and Deutsche Bank. State governments involved include the Basque Country, Quebec, New York state, South Australia and Victoria. (+)
